Our eyes are the focal point of the face. Most people say the eyes are the first thing they notice when meeting a person for the first time. So, what are your eyes saying about you? The thin skin and relentless exposure of the skin on our eyelids and the surrounding skin can age our face beyond its actual years. Clinically known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery subtly rejuvenates the entire face, taking about a decade off the patient’s facial age.
Every year, breast augmentation is one of the top two most popular cosmetic surgeries. Some women feel as if their breasts are out of proportion with the rest of their figure. Others feel their breasts are asymmetrical. Others simply have always wanted to have larger breasts and a curvier figure. In breast augmentation, Dr. Coleman uses silicone or saline breast implants to add volume and shape to the breasts. Breast augmentation has amazing rates of satisfaction years after the procedure was done with upwards of 95 percent of augmentation patients expressing satisfaction with the procedure and their new figure.
The relentless pull of gravity, weakening support tissues, and the aftereffects of pregnancy and breastfeeding can leave a woman’s breasts flattened and with less volume. Stretched skin and ligaments create sagging that moves more and more breast mass to the bottom of each breast. A breast lift seeks to reverse that, bringing the breasts back up to a higher, younger position on the chest. Excess skin is removed, and tissue is repositioned to raise and firm the breasts. If the patient wants to return or add volume, it’s easy for Dr. Coleman to add implants to a breast lift.
Overly large natural breasts can be a literal and figurative burden. The weight alone can feel like wearing a backpack on the chest, leading to a variety of health problems, everything from chronic back pain to carpal tunnel syndrome. Posture can be a problem, buying clothes a tedious exercise in covering up. Just the undue attention created by her large breasts can make a woman avoid various social situations. Breast reduction surgery aims to downsize a woman’s overly large natural breasts, bringing them in proportion with the rest of the figure. Excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed to reduce the size of the breasts.
No one wants to look older, and facial aging is there for all to see. That’s why the facelift is one of the original cosmetic surgeries, having been performed for over 100 years. Modern facelift techniques have come a long way from the over-stretched results of just a couple of decades ago. Today the goal of Dr. Coleman is to elevate the underlying musculature and support tissues. That creates natural rejuvenation rather than simply stretching sagging skin. Each facelift procedure is completely unique to the patient, using different incisions and focusing on the different causes and areas of facial aging.
Whether down on the Gulf or at the pool, many men are reticent about removing their shirts for fear of people seeing their “man boobs.” Unfortunately, most men assume their enlarged breasts are due to having a few extra pounds and they never have the issue addressed. The reality is, for between 40 to 60 percent of men, their enlarged breasts are caused by a condition known as gynecomastia. Dr. Coleman can address this condition with male breast reduction surgery. He removes the enlarged glandular tissue under the nipples, along with excess skin and fat. This decreases the breast size and firms the overall chest.
No matter what kind of shape we’re in, we all have stubborn pockets of fat that are impervious to dietary restraint and exercise. These pockets of fat tend to accumulate on the lower abdomen, the flanks, the upper thighs, the upper arms, even under the chin. Liposuction uses a thin cannula inserted through tiny incisions to remove these pockets of fat and slim the contours of the treatment areas. Liposuction has come a long way since its debut in the 1980s in the U.S. Dr. Coleman has been performing tumescent liposuction for three decades. This involves the injection of a saline solution with adrenaline and local anesthetic into the treatment area, dramatically reducing bruising and making it easier to break up and suction away the fat cells.
The localized weight gain and loss of a pregnancy can stretch the skin on the abdomen to such a degree that it cannot tighten back down to its former degree of tautness. In many cases, stomach muscles become separated, and no matter how many crunches you do, it won’t help. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and pockets of fat, and surgically brings separated stomach muscles back to their rightful place in the center. A full tummy tuck involves one incision on the lower bikini line and a second around the navel to address loose skin above the navel. Tummy tucks remove the stomach pooch and tighten and slim the contour of the entire abdomen.
Pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding are incredibly tough on a woman’s body. A formerly flat stomach now sports a pooch. Once firm breasts have flattened, lost volume, and are sagging. And, despite having lost their baby weight, moms are now depressed to find new stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Moms can look in the mirror and wonder where their pre-baby bodies went. Fortunately, a mommy makeover with Dr. Coleman can get your body back, and maybe then some. Mommy makeover is a term for a combination of cosmetic procedures that target the changes that having children make on a woman’s body. Mommy makeovers combine a tummy tuck, breast lift (with or without augmentation), and liposuction into a single surgical session. With a mommy makeover, a woman can have children but still have her pre-baby body.
